Chapter Management: Expanding Access With Microlearning

The Challenge

The Chapter Management course needed a refresh to better serve a global audience of emerging community leaders—many from rural areas in African countries and other regions with limited internet access, including learners with low to no internet connection.

The client’s goal was to update an existing eLearning course by improving engagement, localizing it into Spanish and French, and ensuring it could be easily accessed by both high-bandwidth and low-bandwidth users.

Importantly, the course needed to feel inviting and dynamic, offering learners an experience that was as engaging as an online seminar or webinar.

The Solution

We redesigned the Chapter Management experience with flexibility, inclusion, and global access in mind.

  • Microlearning Format in Rise
We broke the course into small, digestible modules using Articulate Rise, allowing learners to advance at their own pace without requiring long downloads or continuous streaming—ideal for mobile and low-bandwidth environments.

  • Dual Platform Publishing
To serve all learners, we published the course in two formats:
    • A Storyline version that simulated a live webinar platform, creating a professional online seminar feel.

    • A Rise microlearning version designed for quick access and smooth navigation across devices and connection speeds.

  • Custom PowerPoint Presentations for Offline Access
We developed companion PowerPoint decks aligned with the course content to:

    • Support instructor-led seminars,

    • Enable self-paced review without requiring an internet connection, and

    • Provide a reliable, offline learning option for learners in remote or low-connectivity areas.

  • Localization into Spanish and French
All eLearning modules and PowerPoint materials were translated and culturally adapted into Spanish and French to ensure accessibility for learners from Latin America, West Africa, and beyond.

  • Accessibility through Regional Adaptation
We expanded the concept of accessibility beyond screen readers—recognizing that for many learners, accessibility also means being able to load, download, or access learning materials easily in rural and remote settings.

  •

The Outcome

The revitalized Chapter Management program now provides an equitable, engaging learning experience for chapter leaders around the world.

Learners can access the course online, offline, in their preferred language, and at their own pace—empowering them to build stronger, more connected local chapters within a truly global network.
