Transforming a Historic Timeline into an Engaging Learning Experience

The Challenge

Turning a dense, text-heavy timeline into an engaging and accessible learning experience was no small feat. The goal: make the history of encryption not only interactive and visually appealing but fully accessible to screen reader users.

The Solution

We reimagined the timeline as a virtual museum tour, inviting learners to explore key milestones in a rich, immersive environment. The design focused on interactivity, accessibility, and thematic storytelling.

Custom Interface – Learners could choose between a visually enhanced experience or a screen reader–optimized version, ensuring full accessibility.
Virtual Museum Entry – A digital museum ticket welcomed learners into the experience, setting the stage for exploration.
Engaging Visuals – Each historical event appeared as framed artwork displayed along museum walls, blending education with visual intrigue.
Lifelike Experience – Lifelike, static characters mimicked fellow museum-goers, adding a sense of realism and depth.

The Outcome

What was once a monotonous timeline became a captivating, interactive learning journey. The module not only kept learners engaged but also met accessibility standards, delivering an inclusive experience for all users.
