DDCN: Localizing Technical Concepts for Global Access

The Challenge

The DDCN course introduces technical concepts and real-world skills for building and managing computer networks. To expand its reach and impact, the course needed to be localized into Arabic, Spanish, and French—languages spoken across diverse global communities where network resilience and digital inclusion are top priorities.

While Spanish and French presented familiar translation workflows, Arabic localization required special attention due to its right-to-left (RTL) script, unique punctuation, and nuanced contextual meanings. The goal: maintain technical accuracy, instructional clarity, and cultural sensitivity across all three versions.

The Solution

We adapted the full course content—including assessments, graphics, and interactive elements—into each language version while preserving a consistent learner experience.

  • Collaborative Translation Process – We partnered with native-speaking subject matter experts to ensure technical terminology was accurate and locally meaningful.
  • RTL-Optimized Design – The Arabic version underwent interface restructuring to support right-to-left reading, including layout mirroring, font adjustments, and culturally appropriate icons.
  • Graphics & UI Review – Visuals with embedded text were translated and re-rendered to ensure alignment and legibility.
  • Quality Assurance Across Languages – Each version was reviewed by in-region testers to validate translation fidelity, accessibility, and learner engagement.

The Outcome

The localized DDCN course now supports learners across English-, Arabic-, Spanish-, and French-speaking regions. Each version offers a seamless, accessible learning experience—empowering communities to build and manage networks that support local needs and global connectivity.
